A Blog: Personal Stories on the Impact of Jewish Education
Purim offers a plethora of fun

The Schechter community commemorated the festival of Purim both inside and outside the walls of the school this year. From costumes and megillah readings to music, friendship, and ruach, the holiday brought everyone together in the most joyful way.
Purim commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in ancient Persia. It is often observed by donating money or food to the poor and celebrating with a feast. Since it’s customary for children and adults to dress in costume, our students and teachers showed up in style. From superheroes and royalty to athletes and astronauts, everyone joined in on the fun.
Grades 1-2 volunteered at a Purim celebration for Holocaust survivors hosted by Temple Beth Sholom in Roslyn. The AriNotes performed music, students served food and shared conversations, and the celebration ended with joyful simcha dancing.
