Earlier this month Middle School students were visited by the organizers of "Ot Chaim." The Sefer Torah-writing initiative honors the victims of the Iron Swords War, HY”D.

The project was born following the passing of Master Sergeant Daniel Castel, HY”D, and provides bereaved families a meaningful and dignified way to remember their loved ones. The students' participation gave them a meaningful and dignified way to honor the soul of SSLI alumnus Omer Neutra, HY”D.

“Ot Chaim” has been traveling across Israel for nearly two years visiting the homes of bereaved families. This memorial project is not just a long journey of comfort, connection and healing, but a mission to continue bringing light and strength to families and communities.

SSLI was privileged to have its students participate in a meaningful activity that is shared throughout the broader Jewish community in America and Israel.
